Having just returned to SMARTRI, it is impressive to find out how much the project has advanced. Not only has yield data from the plots continued to be collected each month, but a wealth of other information has also been gathered as part of the various projects. This includes leaf herbivory measurements from three trees in each plot and a rat population survey and line transects for small carnivores. A subset of the plots have also had camera traps set to record any visiting mammals. These have been running since May and have recorded overall activity in the plots as well as several species of mammals and birds, including numerous leopard cats, common palm civets and bearded pigs.
